Extreme Poverty

The poverty rate increased from 47.8% of the population in 2019 to 52.4% in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Chronic child malnutrition (and stunting) affects 47% of all children under the age of five. Out of this rate, 58% are indigenous children, and 66% are children from the lowest income quintile.
